Managing Partner, Senior Wealth Advisor
Michael is the Managing Partner of McLaughlin Private Wealth and a Senior Wealth Advisor. Since founding the firm over 30 years ago, he has been providing wealth management solutions to his clients. His years of experience has led him to work primarily with wealthy families, professionals and closely held business owners helping them address their five biggest concerns: preserving wealth, mitigating taxes, taking care of their heirs, ensuring their assets are not unjustly taken, and charitable giving. He and his team do this while working collaboratively with a client’s professional circle of influence including their estate attorneys and CPAs.
Michael believes in never being complacent in work and in his personal life. Professionally, he has earned several industry designations including the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (conferred by the College for Financial Planning), Certified Exit Planning Associate (conferred by the Exit Planning Institute), and the Retirement Income Certified Professional (conferred by The American College). He has also been a member for many years of esteemed Top Advisor groups within the firm’s broker/dealers and is a roundtable member of the CEG Worldwide consortium of private wealth advisors. He has been a speaker at many national conferences on various advanced planning topics and best practices for Financial Advisors.
In the community, Michael has served on several boards most notably for the INSPIRA Health Network. He was instrumental in leading the merger of two New Jersey health systems to form the INSPIRA Health Network, which has become one of the fastest growing health networks in New Jersey. He served on the Board of Trustees and Chair for one of the hospitals that formed the new INSPIRA Health Network and, after the merger, became Chair of the new consolidated health system. Michael also was a member of the Board of Trustees of Tavistock Country Club in Tavistock, New Jersey, and served as President of the Club for two years.
Michael is a graduate of Penn State University's Smeal College of Business. He lives in Moorestown, NJ, with his wife and business partner, Linda. They spend half of their time in New Jersey and the other half in Delaware at their home in Bethany Beach. They have a son and a daughter, Meaghan, who works for the firm. In his free time, he enjoys a good round of golf, wine, food, travel, boating, spinning and Peloton, and daily walks with his Labrador retriever, Lainey.
